This poor thing spent the whole winter chained up like that outside, sleeping in a cage.

People here don't really seem to have any real emotions regarding animals. Sure, if it's kawaii it gets attention, but when I see a crab being dissected alive because " it makes the seafood dish taste fresher", I really doubt Japanese people give a shit about animals at all.

I agree. I think they like the idea of animals and cute images of animals, but actual living creatures - no. My other neighbor has a dog who never goes out, this poor thing just scratches at the door and pisses under it. And personally, Id like to chain the cat owner outside in the winter and see how she likes it. And lock up the dog owner inside and see how he likes it. OK, rant over.
Poor kitty. I say this as I have 2 kitties on my lap indoors and not on a leash.
Two? Me too! One next to me, and one perched on the back of the armchair I am sitting in. I love my kids! I mean - cats!
Yep, one on my lap, the other between my legs. They are pretty cute.
